Mining and metallurgy

The mining industry and metallurgy strive to extract and process mineral resources and raw material more sustainably. This also reflects on the use of their process water and the handling of mine drainage water. On the one hand there is the growing regulatory pressure for water and wastewater treatment in the mining industry and on the other hand the increased demand to further optimise the mining and extraction process in their overall efficiency. Additionally, the companies are driven to improve their use of water resources more economically and ecologically and recycle valuable materials from their wastewater streams.

Our approach

For these more and more increasing challenges in the mining industry and metallurgy, the ECtop solution as a continuous electro-coagulation technology is an optimal method to purify high demanding and problematic wastewater. The focus on this can be significantly different, mining wastewater needs to be separated from sulphates and heavy metals for its reuse in the process and mine drainage water, either needs to be purified for discharge or made available for agriculture.

As an additional benefit, heavy and noble metals can also be recovered in a targeted manner with the ECtop process. On there is a case study on the recovery of silver and tin from process water in metallurgy available.
